Safety tips for the transportation of pets

What is your pet? Poochie is the first in the car when the door opens, or the kitty runs to hide the slightest travel?
Both kinds face dangers on the road, but there are steps you can take to protect themselves. Even the happiest traveller can trouble, and can occur even on a short trip to the grocery store.

What can you do?

1. Always use identity labels. When you travel, add an additional tag with your cell phone number. If you do not use a cell phone, add the number of a friend of confidence which will be at home while you're on the road.

2 If your pet is identified, make sure to call and update your address and telephone number. If they are pas identified, consider doing so.

3 Keep your pet contained. The back of a pickup truck is not a safe place, but if your pet is travelling, to be placed in a secure support, or to tie the cross if there is no chance that he may fall or be thrown on the side. Falling truck is a major cause of lost or injured pets. Sometimes, the fall is fatal. Also, don't forget that your metal pickup bed temperature corresponds to the weather. Use a liner so that you do to burn his feet, or freeze!

4. While some cats travel in cars and remain on site, they should ride in a carrier so that they cannot jump off when the door opens and cannot suddenly decide mount under the feet of the driver or around his neck.

5. If possible, contain your dog into a socket in the car. This is precautionary for you and the dog.

6. Do not forget the heat factor. Do not take your pet if you need to stop for more than 5 minutes on a hot day. Temperature in your vehicle can reach heights killer in a few minutes. You... like it cooked him! Cold weather holds a similar danger to your brief friends hair.

7 Take water and a dish of water! When you reach for a drink do not forget your pet without doubt need one too.

8. When you stop for a break pot, keep your pet on a leash. Even the most well trained dog can become frightened and bolt. You do not want your best friend running in traffic, and you do not want he lost one hand mountain or wandering in a strange city.

9. Does discount anxiety. For animals who do not like to ride, anxiety comes the trip itself. To move to a new home can cause emotional for all pets. Your veterinarian may prescribe a sedative for extreme anxiety, and there are also homeopathic products to help to calm their nerves. Check your nearest store for pets.

10 Plan and don't forget to keep medical records on long trips or moves. If you are missing certificates of vaccination, ask your veterinarian to get copies. You may need to provide proof of vaccination if crossing State lines. If you are moving, your new veterinarian will want to know your animal's medical history, etc. when he had his last immunisation. Proof of rabies protection is vital at this time, as a distraught pet may bite. (Yes, even your dog has never hurt a fly.) Without evidence of vaccination against rabies, dogs would have to be quarantined, otherwise suppress.

Moving day is a dangerous moment for your pets. Take these extra precautions:

Containment: Do not try to keep an eye on the dog and cat and moving all at the same time. Doors will open constantly, and no one can watch every minute.

If your new home has a fenced yard secured an area where the movers (or family) will not need to go back and forth, this could be a safe place, but often. Stop at the opportunity to give a treat or throw a ball... let him know that it is a correct location and that you are nearby.

If you have a kennel, conditioned cage first and put in your dog until things settle down. Don't forget to stop and talk from time to time.

If you own niche that your animal uses to sleep or for the constituency, placing them in the more tranquil room of the House and put your pets in them until the movers had left or any is unloaded. Let cats in their travel carriers until you do not know that the doors be opened by the movers.

If you have no fenced yard and your dog is accustomed to stay home without one, be sure to go out with him the first several days. If you must leave him alone outside, to tie on a long-chain or cable tie. (Not a rope - they are too easily chewed.) You and the dog may hate the idea, but its security is worth a few days of discomfort.

Anxiety:

If your dog sees its role in life as protector, he or she will hate the movers being there and the handling of your personal effects. Placed it in the bedroom back or the rail yard where he cannot see what was going on. Don't let him follow the back and forth, because it is a formula for disaster. You do not need your lost dog or injure, and it is unnecessary to deal with your insurance in a dog bite. Remember, even the more quiet dog BITE will be if severely provoked.

Remember that moving to a new House is traumatic for your pets. After that things move on moving day let take a tour of the House, with you the long acting relaxed and happy. Do not transmit your fatigue to your pets!

Understand that your fat friend can relapse at this time. If your new house was formerly occupied by other animals of yours company may feel a need to "mark" on their territory. Not a pleasant thing and should not be tolerated, but are not ballistic on them. If it appears that the marking will be a persistent problem, you need to shampoo carpets with a special shampoo designed to kill odors left by previous pets.
